Ram extrusion is a process that enables the consistent processing and production of Polytetrafluoroethylene. The PTFE powder is the basic material, which is passed through an extrusion pipe of cylindrical shape. A ram is then used to compress the powder while it's being transited through the pipe. The compressed powder is then heated up at a specific temperature that helps in making it compact.
We use the ram extruder, a unique unit that's either oriented vertically or horizontally. Such orientation is pointed in the direction in which the ram moves. Theres a ram that's driven by hydraulic besides a hot barrel present in the extruder wherein the pre-form gets collected. For this process, the PTFE ram extruded rods are connected to a unique section which is either oriented vertically or horizontally.
PTFE yields such a low friction coefficient that it produces a material which when utilized lowers load and fetches bearings for reducing frictional losses and enhancing efficiency. PTFE can easily outperform contemporary materials.
The PTFE seals that we use comply with the machining components and extend the sealing capacity. Much of the efficiency and capacity get enhanced with PTFE besides lowering of the machining expenses; all of these happen due to the easy machining of PTFE. The PTFE material can be used aggressively at all environments as it resists a majority of acids. In comparison, the performance of Polypropylene and other materials don't seem to be satisfactory.
